What next?
So, the Flora and Fauna September is almost finished. I enjoyed it and hope you did, also.
What is going to happen next?
I gave you a poem each day in August, and a photo at least on most of the days of September. What do you want for October?
30 Days of Text. Day 19
Word: Flasks
Form: wordwrap poem
So inconspicuous a thing,
so small and nondescript.
You slowly pick it up and bring
it home. A flask. Its neck is chipped,
made from clear glass, and also clear
the liquid that you see within.
You smile. You do not fear
the unknown. Face it with a grin.
You drain the liquor, take a breath
and know what it is that you face.
You smile once more. You smile at Death.
For him it is that you embrace.

30 Days of Text. Day 12
Word: Asteroids
Form: Terza Rima
Asteroid Wallowing In Self-Pity – a Terza Rima Sonnet Elegy
I am circling, careening through space
Ever wandering, ever alone.
And I know that I am a disgrace!
Don’t you know that I really bemoan
My flintiness so cold, so gruff?
I am but a splinter of stone.
I get nothing but hate and rebuff.
I’m no planet, so sun and no star,
Just an asteroid – never enough.
And I’m longing to be what they are!
Indwelt or just shining with grace!
I pine over them just from afar.
I’m a frigid and dead-hearted block
Just an asteroid. Just a rock.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s word: Civilize
30 Days of Text. Day 11
30 Days of Text. Day 10
Word: Hummed
Form: Ballad
The moon reflects on white-washed dunes
The sea gleams silver in the night
A voice drifts over, ancient tunes
Hummed by an immemorial wight.
A face, all wrinkled, green with moss
Peeks out of the abyssal sea
Its tune is heavy with old loss,
With pain, with longing and a plea.
The creature sings ’bout love long gone
A promise that was made in vain,
About a game where it’s the pawn
Where treason called a horrid bane.
A hint of stories far beyond
All mortal grasp or sympathy.
I cannot bear it – and I don’t,
I turn and run, I have to flee!
I leave the nightly dunes behind
get back into my lively flow.
The stories that the song entwined
Are gone now. I will never know.

Tomorrow’s word: aerobics
30 Days of Text. Day 9
Word: Videophone
Form: Monorhyme
How do I write ’bout a videophone?
The thought surely frightens me down to the bone!
I’m sitting here, pondering, feeling alone…
I sweat and I whine, I moan and I groan.
How do I write ’bout a videophone?
I bet you’d have told me, had you only known.
But no, your brain works as well as a stone -
no word, no hint ’bout my videophone.
How do I write ’bout a videophone?
What did I do that I have to atone?
I know what to do: I will just postpone
This horrible piece ’bout a videophone.
30 Days of Text. Day 8
Word: corroborate
Form: Brevette (Click Brevette down in the second chart)
Jealousy

Interesting poetic form. Never heard of it before. There are more poetic forms to be found here. It is interesting what happens when you just set out to use a random poetic form you never tried your hand at before. Just to see what happens. Language moves more things than we’re aware of or, as a friend of mine recently said: “Language is the level where miracles can come true”.
And tomorrow’s word is videophone.
How’s that for a challenge? First italian potatoe dumplings, now videophone. Thanks, random word generator.
