Into the Dream #4

May 25th. Day of the towel.

Yes. Douglas, we still love you.

Therefore, we celebrated the Towel Day.

I happened to coincide with a medieval reenactors encampment I participated in, which made it even more … luscious. Best thing were the people who asked: “Why do you have a 42 written on your forehead?”

Because we could answer: “Because I also have a towel with me.”

Swedish music again! YES!

I’ve got a new favourite. She’s on constant repeat, on my computer, in my CD player, on my mp3-player, and in my heart. And of course, she’s Swedish again. Those frickin’ Scandinavians know how to make music.

I talk about Anna Ternheim (Here is her mypace account? with tons of music samples).

Anyone associating my music with hard beats, loud guitars, gothic and indie rock stuff only, be warned. As I previously said, my tastes are widespread.

Anna Ternheim is an exceptional talent. Her music is very emotional, soft and fragile. Her voice reminds me of no one, really, so unique is she. It goes slightly in the Norah Jones or Loreena McKennit direction, but the music is very different. It mostly reminds me of Nick Cave, especially his style in the Murder Ballads, but I’ve seen PJ Harvey and Suzanne Vega comparisons, too (though I tend to disagree with the later). Do not believe the reviews that label her “folkmusic”, they lie.

Her voice is, despite all its seeming fragility, strong enough to carry you throughout a song with ony a guitar or a piano accompanying her. Right now, she takes me to far, far places. That’s what she does. She entices? you and takes you away.

? I recommend to try out her debut album “Somebody Outside”, first. I got her second one, too (Separation Road), and it’s just as good - but start with the first one anyways. :)

The children’s sorrow…

Sometimes, I feel sore and desperate? from the children’s? pain and sorrow.

Yes, it’s that topic again; it is touching my life from every possible angle right now, and I don’t really know how to cope, yet.

I talked to a kid some days ago. A teenage kid, an intelligent, talented, nice kid, who had to spill out his heart to someone, and that someone happened to be me. He told me that in a quarrel, his mother had told him she wished she had never had him. (more…)

On a happier note, I’ll give you a pic of my puppy, Paula. There are times when the angle is so wrong it’s just right. ;)

What people do to kids…

I called the police today.

I was visiting a friend yesterday, and she told me some stuff about her neighbors. They are both alcoholics and junkies, and they’re got 2 kids: A boy aged 2, and a little baby, 6 months old.

They do not care about the kids at all. Every second or so night, the guy demolates the whole flat, kicks in doors and such, and they both beat up each other. They use the baby buggy for transporting beer bottles rather than their baby. And by the middle of the month, they’re totally out of money (which is social welfare money anyways).

My friend called the youth care dep. twice, but they didn’t do anything, obviously. And she won’t call again: The guy is threatening her. Being a single mom, she has to protect her kids, she sais.

So I went to the police. (more…)

5 reasons why I blog

Wow. I got tagged. Does that mean I kinda belong?

Anyway, lovely Anniina tagged me. I love her: She’s a Worthian, she’s a frickin’ Scandinavian, and she’s pretty. ;)

And she wants to know why I blog. Cool question, as I’m not sure myself. So, here are 5 reasons anyways:

1. Chrome. He’s my best friend, and best friends often know what’s good for you. Better than yourself. So he talked me into it. He told me that I, of all people, had something to TELL. Up to this date, I don’t know what this could be, but I keep talking, perhaps it comes out one day.

2. I’m so good at talking because I’m so bad at stowing it. I’m a mental exhibitionist. I like the cruel inner nakedness that the internet provides sometimes. I like to be honest, and in RL, some people do not really want to listen to honesty.

? 3. Sharing. I just like sharing not only my ideas (see above) but also music, arts, books and other things I’m passionate about. I also like receiving new music, arts, and books recommendations, always starving for new creative input.

4. Worth 1000. It’s great to have a site that inspires me to create art in more than just one form. And when I have entered contests, I need a place to show off once more. ;) So I store some of the pictures and writings created for Worthian contests here in my Blog again.

5. I really cannot think of a fifth reason, truly. I guess I just like doing it. It makes me feel connected with whomever want to be connected with me. And that’s good, isn’t it?
